Step 1

Pick out pictures.  Carefully pull or cut them out of the magazines.

First pick out the pictures you're going to use in your collage

Step 3

Cut the pictures into strips.

Either cut up one large picture or use a bunch of smaller pics.

Step 4

Glue the strips of paper to the horse template.  Don’t just put them together like a puzzle but move them around and mix things up a little bit.

Glue the magazine pics onto the collage and then cut it out.

Step 5

Cut out the horse using the template outline.  You can cut it about 1/4″ out from the line to make it a little bigger.

You don't have to cut exactly on the lines for this collage!

Step 6

Glue onto colored paper.

Using horses inside the horse collage gives this a nice themed look.

It really is that easy!

This is just one variation.  You can do this collage project using different styles:

  • Thin or thick strips of the pictures
  • One picture or many pictures
  • Color coordinated or random colors

Also, sometimes kids have a hard time cutting the pictures and will fit whole pictures into the template outline.  Let them be as creative as they want!  It’s their project and there isn’t really a wrong way to put it together.  That’s the best part of this project.   No matter what they do, it’ll look great!

These horse collages turned out so pretty!
